The democratic principles have triggered efficiency and accountabilities in the spheres of leadership. However in our climes, the reverse seems to be the case, most elected leaders strive to take advantage of these Democratic principles to impoverish the people - looting the common treasury and making themselves gods of men, this has made the people lose confidence in their leaders. It can be likened to the years of sojourn the Israelites witnessed in Egypt under the pharaoh.
